“Our effort is primarily involved with promoting the benefits of the chamber and helping to build the membership of the chamber,” Krause said. The owner of Milford Laundry and Horse Blanket Headquarters was honored by the chamber as its Ambassador of the Year. As one of the chamber ambassadors, he encourages other members to attend, makes sure those new to the group are meeting others and overall just ensuring everyone is getting the most they can from the chamber. “She always wants to be involved, and you know you can count on her for anything.”īrad Krause is a regular at chamber functions, whether it’s coffee in the morning or a after-hours get together. She’s pretty much involved in every event we have,” said Beether, adding the award winner serves on the golf committee and board of directors and finds volunteers for Brewed in Michigan or Milford Memories, among her accomplishments. She admitted she was surprised to be recognized for something she’s compelled to do. She helped get the Milford Farmers Market off the ground, encouraging the shop local mantra.Īt Milford Memories, she remains involved with the beer tent, finding scores of volunteers to help pour drinks, check IDs and collect tickets during the three-day weekend. She helped found the Crazy Putt Putt fundraiser, a partnership with the Rotary Club of Milford, which benefits a local charity with proceeds from the event. “I prefer to give back to the community and see it grow and thrive, even in bad times.” “Giving back to the community is what I do.” Sanborn said. She was named the chamber Volunteer of the Year. The branch manager at Milford’s Flagstar Bank is one of those who seems to have a helping hand behind the scenes in many of the events and fundraisers taking place around town. The Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce is recognizing three more who try to help out at festivals, fundraisers and helping businesses thrive. When it comes to making things happen in the community, volunteers are usually there.
